Han Rituals Scalp Care Shampoo: Where Science Meets Tradition

Han Rituals Scalp Care Shampoo: Where Science Meets Tradition

Let’s be honest: unless they had dandruff that was visible to the naked eye, most people would probably never reach for a scalp care shampoo.

As a 28-year veteran in the beauty industry, I totally understand why. Traditionally, products for scalp care are often marketed to those with serious ‘problems’ like hair loss or dermatological scalp diseases. Even their packaging screamed ‘I AM A MEDICAL PRODUCT’ - clinical white and blue colours with science-y sounding benefits displayed loud and proud.

But thanks to modern studies, we now know that a healthy scalp is absolutely key to your overall hair health. A healthy scalp results in quicker hair growth, less breakage and stronger, shinier hair.

Of course, if you had a grandmother like mine, you would’ve known the importance of the scalp WAY before the scientists did.

Following Ancient Rituals For Generations

Before I ever heard of L'Oréal and Pantene, there was Popo… my grandmother.

Every night without fail, she would take her time to carefully brush her scalp with a wooden brush one hundred times. This helps improve blood circulation, strengthening the hair follicles in the process.

In the Chinese medicine practice of reflexology, massaging the acupressure points located on your scalp will also stimulate relief for symptoms of insomnia and headaches.

My popo drilled into me the importance of washing your hair everyday - after all, our scalps are just an extension of our skin, and imagine going a day without washing your face!

I learned my haircare rituals from her, just like she learnt them from her grandmother.

Learning these routines from my grandmother inspired me to create The 5 Pillars of Han Rituals Hair Care Method, a hair wellness guide that involves making sustainable lifestyle changes based on 5 principles:

  • Reset: Assessing current lifestyle habits that may be disrupting your hair and scalp health
  • Remove: Removing toxins from your system by limiting processed foods and exercising
  • Refuel: Sufficiently fuelling your body with nutrients to get it running at its optimal state
  • Repair: Allowing your body to heal and repair by getting enough sleep and minimising stress
  • Realign: Practising mindfulness so that you won’t be easily discouraged when it comes to making changes in your journey

Science-Backed, Grandma-Approved Scalp Care Shampoo

When it comes to hair woes, the root of your problems start at the scalp (see what I did there?).

Besides getting inspiration from my grandmother’s ancient rituals, I also had the privilege of working with one of the most trusted labs in Japan to develop the HAN Rituals Scalp Care Shampoo.

The ingredients in the HAN Rituals Scalp Care Shampoo also help to soothe an irritated scalp, support hair regrowth and keep your scalp healthy. We formulated a powerful product using 6 Chinese herbs proven to aid in revitalising scalp health and hair loss treatment: Loquat Leaf, White Peony Root, Licorice, Moutan Root, Chinese Hawthorn and Chinese Skullcap.

Unlike most shampoos on the market, the HAN Rituals Scalp Care Shampoo is free from sodium lauryl sulphate (SLS) - a harsh chemical surfactant used to remove oil-based dirt, removing your natural hair oils in the process.

Instead, we use a gentle surfactant derived from coconut oil and fermented corn that does the same job of cleansing your scalp from built-up oils and product residue WITHOUT stripping your body’s natural oils.

Good Hair: It’s A Marathon, Not A Sprint

But of course, keeping a healthy head of hair goes beyond just selecting which shampoo to use.

One huge aspect that most haircare brands out there fail to mention is just about everything else, like:

  • Is your body getting enough nutrients?
  • Are you drinking enough water?
  • Are you getting enough sleep (or too much)?
  • Are you trying to minimise stress?

When you embark on the HAN Rituals Hair Revitalizing Journey, my goal is to help you make sustainable changes to your daily lifestyle so that you can achieve your healthiest hair ever.

It won’t happen at the flip of a switch, and it requires a considerable amount of time, effort and a willingness to see the changes through.

But once you start to commit and especially once you see the results for yourself (no matter how small), it’ll be hard to stray off course.
